Come join us on April 16th at 7:00 am for Sonrise services.  We will be sitting on the bleachers listening to God's word and reveling in his glorious work at sunrise.

Crossroads Cowboy Church is pleased to announce that there will be a change in the youth program at church starting April 5, 2017.  James and Elizabeth Hathaway will be leading the group.  James is an ordained minister through Cowboys for Christ as well as a farrier and Elizabeth is a teacher.  They are parents of three children, 2 boys and a girl, and are active members of the church.

Their vision for the youth group is based on the verse “But you should keep a clear mind in every situation, don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord, work at telling others the good news and fully carry out the ministry God has given you” (2 Timothy 4:5, NLT).  Through this they want to build a relationship with each and every youth and help guide them with their own spiritual and personal relationships.  They want to lay a foundation of skills that will enable them to become Godly citizens of this world.

Many activities are in the works starting with a pizza party on April 5th.  Horses will be coming back every Wednesday night, weather permitting, with clinics focusing on youth interests (such as barrel racing, roping, goat tying, etc.).  Other events include campouts, retreats, games, community service projects, and family movie nights.  Additional activities will be added based upon needs and wants of the group.

Parents are always welcome during youth group as they want to build a relationship with them as well.  They are very excited about what the church and God has entrusted them with and can’t wait to watch the youth grow in their walk with God.

They can be contacted at: elizhathaway@yahoo.com

CCC welcomes its new board members DeWayne Burgess and Bonnie Kern.  A big thank you to those that have already served their terms.

CCC will be starting a Team Roping Ministry on April 30th.  It is an opportunity to bring the message of Christ together with the sport of team roping.  All ages are welcome as well as any ability levels.  There will be opportunities to practice on the roping dummy as well as on live cattle.   It will be held the 2nd and 4th Friday nights from 7:00 to 10:30 pm and the 1st and 3rd Sundays from 2:00 to 5:30 pm.  The cost is $20 per roper or $40 for a family of 3 or more.  For more information please contact Brian Barrett at 785-231-3022 or Scott Petesch at 785-484-0409.

Annual Business Meeting

Crossroads Cowboy Church will be holding their annual business meeting on March 5th after services.  Terms have expired for two board members; therefore, we will be electing two new members.  Nominations will still be taken up to February 26th.  The following people have accepted nominations for the position; James Hathaway, DeWayne Burgess, Sam Campbell, Glenn Hermann, Margie McConnaughey, Bonnie Kern, Luann Crist and Scott Day.

As we consider the best candidate for the position, remember that the Bible is clear on who should be in leadership positions.  The Bible tells us in 1 TImothy 3:2-11 "So an elder must be a man whose life is above reproach.  He must be faithful to his wife.  He must exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation.  He must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must be able to teach.  He must not be a  heavy drinker or be violent.  He must be gentle, not quarrelsome, and not love money.  He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him.  For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God's church?  An elder must not be a new believer, because he might become proud and the devil would cause him to fall.  Also, people outside the church must speak well of him so that he will nto be disgraced and fall into the devil's trap.  In the same way, deacons must be well respected and have integrity.  They must not be heavy drinkers or dishonest with money.  They must be committed to the mystery of the faith now revealed and must live with a clear conscience.  Before they are appointed as deacons, let them be closely examined.  If they pass the test, then let them serve as deacons.  In the same way, their wives must be respected and must not slander others.  They must exercise self-control and be faithful in everything they do."

Conquering the Beast Bull Riding School

Scott Mendes, 1997 champion bull rider, came to Crossroads Cowboy Church September 25-27th to instruct a bull riding school.  The theme of the weekend was "conquering the beast".

15 students, 1 girl included, came to learn how to properly ride a bull.  Not only did they work on the physical game of the sport, but also the mental aspect.  One thing that Scott Mendes preached on many occasions is that always walk with Jesus in all that you do.  You can be a part of the rodeo world and still be a good Christian.

In all the school was a great success.  One student was baptized on Sunday morning after Mr. Mendes preached.  The impact that the school had on all the students and staff was tremendous.

Youth Pastor James Hathaway

"He never sinned, nor deceived anyone.  He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered.  He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.  He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right.  By his wounds you are healed.  Once you were like a sheep who wandered away.  But now you have turned your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls."  1 Peter 2:22-25 (NLT)
